Patterned Susceptibility is the idea that human beings are individually different but biologically similar enough that systems can reliably shape behavior through recurring pressures, rewards, defaults, signals, constraints, and friction.

Biology matters because systems do not shape behavior only through logic, rules, or conscious choice. They also interact with attention, stress, reward, anticipation, fatigue, threat response, comfort, belonging, and desire.

A video game can create urgency or reward without physical danger. A movie can make people laugh, cry, tense up, hope, grieve, or remember something they have not experienced directly. The system works because it connects with human response.

Patterned susceptibility does not mean everyone responds the same way.

It means systems can rely on enough shared human tendencies to make certain responses more likely.
