Reduced false certainty is the capacity to stay careful about what a result, metric, behavior, or explanation actually proves.

It does not mean refusing to know anything.

It means noticing when a conclusion may be arriving faster than the evidence can support.

  • A number moves.
  • A customer complains.

  • A dashboard turns green.
  • A person reacts defensively.
  • A process appears to work.
  • A strategy seems successful.

Each of these can become a trigger for reaction, explanation, confidence, blame, praise, defense, or action.

They may matter.

But they may not mean everything we first think they mean.

Sometimes those conclusions are true.
